Summer Student Work Experience Program (SSWP)
Student Eligibility
Eligible participants must meet the following requirements:
It takes up to four (4) weeks to assess a SSWEP application. To avoid any delays in the assessment time frame, please include the following information with your application:
Priority will be given to those applicants who can demonstrate the following:
Band Council Resolution (BCR) or a Board Motion from sponsoring business
Costs covered by MCFNTS: Wage costs: up to $10.00 per hour

Please ensure your application reaches our office no later than April 30th of each calendar year. Late applications will not be accepted. If you have any questions, please call Cliff Starr at 250-957-2225.
Eligible participants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a minimum of 15 years or older as of January 1st of the year of the application
- Must be enrolled full-time in the last academic year
- Intention of returning to full-time studies in the upcoming academic year

- Detailed Job Description and Evaluation Tools
- Please indicate potential career opportunities within your organization or within the community to match potential student career aspirations
- Position demonstrates Capacity building opportunity for the student and the organization
- Prospective leadership and/or essential skills training opportunity (Essential skills = Numeracy, Writing, Document Use, Reading Text, Working With Others, Thinking Skills, Oral Communication, Computer Use, and Continuous Learning)

Costs covered by MCFNTS: Wage costs: up to $10.00 per hour
- Overhead & Mandatory Employer Related Costs (MERCs) are ineligible
- Please provide position or job title for each student and name of Supervisor
- Provide details which summarize specific activities students will be doing (Job Description). Include dates, time frame, activities, and objectives
- Start and end date of employment. If time frame differs for participants, please make note of it on the application
- Maximum number of weeks is: 6 weeks for secondary and 10 weeks for post-secondary students
- There will be a limited amount of program funding available. Please prioritize your SSWEP positions.
